Ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition, as well as promoting sustainable agriculture is one of the seventeen UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030.
Microinsurance has the potential to support this ambitious goal by protecting smallholder farmers against the many risks they face. Is microinsurance living up to this potential? What has it helped to achieve thus far, and what will it take for inclusive insurance to further contribute to a food-secure world? In this Expert Forum, we will discuss the current state of affairs and explore the way forward for microinsurance’s contribution to achieving food security, with the help of a fascinating panel with both insider and outsider perspectives.
