InFiNe Knowledge Sharing | Exploring the Future of Fund Governance

On 20 May 2026, Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg hosted a new Knowledge Sharing Event in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg, bringing together members and ecosystem actors for an engaging discussion on the future of fund governance and financial regulation.

The session featured a presentation by Dr. Luisa-Sophie Künzel, Postdoctoral Scientist in FinTech, Investment Funds and Law, based on her research “FinTech in Fund Governance – Towards a Technology-Oriented Risk Regulation (TORR)”.

The discussion explored how emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Cloud Computing and Distributed Ledger Technology (“ABCD”) are increasingly shaping fund governance practices and regulatory frameworks.

Participants had the opportunity to exchange around key opportunities linked to these technologies, including efficiency gains, transparency and enhanced investor protection, while also addressing associated risks such as technological complexity, compliance challenges and ethical considerations.

A central focus of the session was the presentation of the Technology-Oriented Risk Regulation (TORR) approach, a proposed framework aiming to strengthen legal certainty and improve the supervision of technology-driven financial activities through a more structured and risk-oriented methodology.

Beyond the presentation itself, the event created valuable space for dialogue and peer exchange around innovation, regulation and the evolving role of technology in financial services.

Through its Knowledge Sharing Events, InFiNe continues to foster collaboration, encourage cross-sector learning and connect Luxembourg’s inclusive and impact finance ecosystem with emerging expertise and research.
