Jürgen Hammer, Chief Risk Officer of Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation and Chairman of the Social Performance Task Force, and Cécile Lapenu, Executive Director of CERISE, will present the specific case of the social performance assessment of the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation portfolio based on the SPI4 (Social Performance Indicators 4). They will show how this assessment can be used to adapt the investment and communication policies of a fund.

Speakers’ biographies

Jürgen Hammer

From 1986 to 2006, Jürgen Hammer worked in investment banking and specialised in interest-rate products in emerging countries. In 2006 he decided to take advantage of these 16 years of expertise and use his experience on markets to help develop microfinance funds (EFSE Fund in Frankfort, JAIDA fund in Morocco).

In March 2008, he joined the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation as the investment policy and portfolio manager. He is now Chief Risk Officer. In January 2016 Jürgen was appointed Chairman of the SPTF (Social Performance TAsk Force).

Jürgen holds an MBA in International Business from City University of New York, as well as a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from Université de Paris-Dauphine.

Cécile Lapenu

Cécile Lapenu is the Executive Director of CERISE. Cécile held the presidency of the European Microfinance Platform (eMFP) in 2013, is a Board member of the Social Performance Task Force (SPTF). Before joining CERISE in 2001, Cécile worked as an expert in Rural Finance for IFPRI and CIRAD. A Ph.D in agricultural economics, Cécile defended her doctoral thesis in 1996 on microfinance in Indonesia.
