Global SME Finance Forum 2017 bringing together the SME Finance ecosystem

The Global SME Finance Forum 2017 took place in Berlin from November 1st to November 3rd. The SME Finance Forum brings together the whole SME Finance ecosystem. It is a unique opportunity for banks, Development Finance Institutions, and fintech companies to talk together and to partner for the development of SME finance.

SME Finance is one of the priorities for the G20 and the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion. SMEs play a major role in developing countries and emerging markets. They are one of the main drivers of jobs creations, economic growth and to reduce poverty. However, SMEs face a lot of challenges. The Global SME Finance Forum 2017 showed that banks alone are not enough to support SMEs. Digital innovations can help them to tackle these challenges. The 3 days conference outlined that digital finance is a game changer for development and is transforming access to finance.

Plenary sessions highlighted the trends and industry recommendations for banks and fintechs to leverage digital banking to serve MSMEs.
