The Africa Blockchain Summit (ABS) is first of all a Central Bank Governors’ Forum, organized by the Central Bank of Tunisia and Paris EUROPLACE with the technical support of the Group Talan, meant to understand the impact of the Distributed Ledger Technology on African and Emerging countries’ financial sector.

This initiative aspires to contribute to the current global thinking on Blockchain, and to propose a regional grid of analysis and understanding of this technology. It is based on a multidimensional approach, which will identify the blockchain’s opportunities, challenges and potential applications for the African and the MENA region’s financial sector.

Three coordinated events are planned:

• The first, institutional, the Governors’ Conference, will bring together Governors of Central Banks and senior African and international financial institutions’ executives in panel discussions moderated by renowned speakers.
• The second will be dedicated to workshops on practical uses of the Blockchain by the financial sector.
• Finally, the third event will focus on research and innovation, through a Hackathon, gathering FinTechs, academics, researchers and developers around a Blockchain challenge, in connection with operational concerns.
