The global thought leadership conference on financial inclusion, Reshaping the Future for Financial Inclusion, will take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 1 March 2019. The conference is being held to mark the occasion of the official opening of the Africa office of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), and events will begin with a welcome dinner on the evening of 28 February.

Global thought leaders from AFI’s membership of central banks, ministries of finance and financial regulators, global and regional development banks, international organizations, academia and the financial sector, are convening for a high-level conference on the future of financial inclusion and how we can provide sustainable financial services to the last 1.7 billion unbanked. Together, we will examine the evidence on policies that have achieved the greatest impact in advancing financial inclusion, the key challenges to reach the next mile and the actions required by policymakers, the private sector, and development partners to maintain global momentum in the drive towards universal financial inclusion. Conference participants will also discuss the potential of FinTech to realize our financial inclusion goals, and policy approaches to leverage this opportunity whilst safeguarding against technology risks.

The conference is co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cote d’Ivoire, the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) & AFI.
