Four Years Supporting Inclusive Insurance: Grameen Credit Aagricole Foundation Highlights Progress Across West Africa

The GCA Foundation has published a new overview highlighting four years of support dedicated to strengthening inclusive insurance ecosystems across West Africa.

Through technical assistance, capacity building and ecosystem coordination, the initiative has contributed to improving access to insurance solutions for vulnerable populations, while supporting the development of more resilient and inclusive financial systems.

The programme brought together insurers, microfinance institutions, regulators and ecosystem actors around a shared objective: expanding access to adapted insurance products for underserved communities exposed to economic and climate-related vulnerabilities.

Over the past four years, the initiative supported the development of inclusive insurance approaches tailored to local realities, while reinforcing institutional capacities and promoting collaboration between public and private stakeholders.

The publication also highlights the growing role of inclusive insurance as a resilience tool, particularly in contexts where vulnerable populations remain highly exposed to health, agricultural and climate risks.

By strengthening market coordination and supporting knowledge sharing, the programme contributed to advancing more sustainable and client-focused insurance ecosystems across the region.

The experience further illustrates how partnerships, technical expertise and ecosystem-building approaches can help scale inclusive finance solutions and improve long-term resilience for low-income populations.
