The Luxembourg Award for Inclusive Finance (LAIF), formerly known as the European Microfinance Award, will return to Luxembourg on 12 November 2026 for its 2026 ceremony, marking 20 years since the first Award ceremony.

Hosted at the European Investment Bank (EIB), the ceremony will bring together leaders and practitioners from across the inclusive finance community to celebrate the organisations and initiatives helping expand access to finance and create greater opportunities for people and communities worldwide.

Unlocking Youth-Inclusive Finance

The 2026 Award focuses on “Unlocking Youth-Inclusive Finance”, recognising organisations developing financial solutions and approaches that respond to the needs and aspirations of young people.

With young people representing a growing share of populations across many emerging and developing economies, access to appropriate financial services can play an important role in enabling entrepreneurship, education, employment and greater economic resilience.

The 2026 finalists will be announced in September, with the Award winner to be revealed during the ceremony on 12 November.

A new chapter for the Award

The 2026 ceremony marks both a milestone and a new chapter in the history of the Award. After two decades of recognising innovation across the financial inclusion sector, the Award continues its evolution under its new name, the Luxembourg Award for Inclusive Finance.

The new identity reflects the broader scope of a sector that has grown beyond traditional microfinance to encompass a wider range of approaches, actors and solutions advancing financial inclusion.
