InFiNe Welcomes Friendship Luxembourg

We are pleased to announce that Friendship Luxembourg has joined the Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg (InFiNe) as our newest member.

Founded in 2006, Friendship Luxembourg supports the work of Friendship Bangladesh in serving vulnerable populations across Bangladesh. The organization operates through a comprehensive approach spanning health, education, income-generating activities, and climate adaptation.

A Multi-Dimensional Partnership Approach

Friendship Luxembourg has developed a multi-faceted partnership model that extends beyond traditional funding. The organization provides technical assistance, skills sponsorship, and volunteer exchanges with Luxembourg companies and foundations—creating what they describe as “a real network of friendships and a laboratory for projects and partnerships.”

In the microfinance sector, Friendship Luxembourg supports APDS (The Association for Peoples Development Stream), a microfinance institution in Bangladesh committed to poverty alleviation and empowerment through financial access. APDS provides seasonal agricultural loans to farmers, business loans for small traders, and savings support to unaddressed communities, combined with capacity-building services. Friendship Luxembourg’s support extends beyond simple resource mobilization to include technical assistance and comprehensive partnership development.

“We want to leverage APDS’ potential in terms of inclusive finance for the ultra-poor communities of Bangladesh. As we believe in the power of partnerships, joining InFiNe means for us to strengthen our knowledge, skills and network to reach that objective.”

explains Stéphane Van Haute, Climate Adaptation & Communications at Friendship Luxembourg.

Focus on Ultra-Poor Communities

Through their Mushti program, Friendship Luxembourg targets ultra-poor communities and families in Bangladesh. The organization combines financial services with broader development interventions to reach the most marginalized populations.

Luxembourg Base and International Operations

Friendship Luxembourg’s membership reflects InFiNe’s commitment to bringing together diverse stakeholders who leverage Luxembourg’s expertise to foster financial inclusion globally. Thanks to their framework agreement with Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, they represent an important bridge between Luxembourg’s development cooperation efforts and grassroots financial inclusion initiatives.

We look forward to the knowledge sharing, networking opportunities, and collaborative initiatives that Friendship Luxembourg will bring to our 44-member community, as we work together toward our shared vision of affordable financial services for all.
