The Fondation de Luxembourg has published its Annual Report 2025, marking a major milestone with more than €100 million in total grants distributed since its creation.
In 2025 alone, the Fondation distributed a record €13.6 million to nearly 300 beneficiary organisations across 57 countries, reflecting continued momentum in strategic and structured philanthropy despite a challenging global context marked by geopolitical instability and growing humanitarian needs.
The Fondation’s committed assets also reached €437 million, representing a 16% increase, while the number of foundations under its aegis rose to 126.
In 2025, supported projects focused on five major areas of intervention:
Health and research represented the largest increase in funding during the year, highlighting growing philanthropic engagement toward resilient and sustainable development solutions.
The Fondation also maintained strong local anchoring, with more than half of all funding directed toward projects in Luxembourg, while continuing to support international initiatives and emergency response efforts worldwide.
Beyond grantmaking, the Fondation de Luxembourg continued to play an active role in promoting structured philanthropy and strengthening collaboration with Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem and civil society.
The report also highlights the continued development of the Fondation pour le Climat, launched in 2024 to support companies wishing to finance high-impact environmental initiatives.
Commenting on the results, Director General Tonika Hirdman noted that philanthropy is becoming increasingly strategic in responding both to urgent crises and to long-term structural challenges.
As it continues to expand its activities in 2026, the Fondation aims to further strengthen cross-border giving and partnerships while consolidating Luxembourg’s role as a hub for impactful philanthropy and sustainable finance.
