14-15/03/2024 – InFiNe participated to the 19th Annual Global Microfinance Forum

InFiNe participated to the 19th Annual global Microfinance Forum organised by Uniglobal in Amsterdam on March 14 and 15. This forum was an opportunity to bring together players in the microfinance sector and a chance to have an amazing one-on-one meeting opportunities and networking between MFIs, MIVs and Investors worldwide.

The ecosystem of our Inclusive Finance Network Luxembourg was well represented with the participation of the EIB, PwC, SPTF and the Grameen Credit Agricole Foundation.

The Forum addressed important issues such as increase in global regulations, future of financial inclusion, climate-smart financing, development impacts, pursuing an inclusive growth agenda, considerable financial turbulence and other key questions that industry are facing and help shape the financial system.

Discussions on how financial inclusion can boost sustainable economic growth were particularly interesting.

  • Philippe Guichandut, General Secretary of the Grameen Credit Agricole Foundation made his presentation on Developing Microinsurance Products: Still a key challenge for Microfinance Operators. They work on a specific program with ILO/ Proparco with 12 partners in West Africa and Asia trying to promote, distribute microinsurance products through MFIs. He explained the challenges for an MFI to offer micro insurance products and the recommendations.

  • Denitsa Berkhoff, head of Microfinance Unit at the European Investment Bank (EIB) talked about Financial Inclusion and Climate Actions. As leading provider of climate finance, the EIB group financed 87,85 billion € in 2023 and 49,04 billion € for green financing. She explained why an integrated approach of climate social inclusion is needed.

  • Jurgen Hammer, Managing Director SPTF Europe, provided a very exhaustive presentation of the Increasing global regulation on ESG and impacts. He presented the Universal Standards that include 8 Client Protection Standards and the SPI which is a platform of resources and tools for impact-driven organizations to assess and improve their social and environmental performance against the Universal Standards developed by CERISE (French NGO) and SPTF.

  • Aleksandra Mrowek-Comazzi, Director and Julien Lacroix, Senior Manager from PwC Luxembourg made their presentation on “Is the Asset Management Industry ready for microfinance strategies?”. Their questions focused on the following points:
