Yves Ferreira, the InFiNe.lu’ scholar to attend the 2018 Boulder Microfinance Training

After a rigourous selection process, the InFiNe.lu scholarship to attend the Boulder Microfinance Training this summer was granted to Yves Ferreira, senior investment officer at the European Investment Bank (EIB). This InFiNe.lu scholarship is part of InFiNe.lu scholarship programme, supporting members in their life long learning process.

Yves grew up in Lisbon and attended the University of Paris to complete a post-graduation degree in Finance and Taxation. While his colleagues at Sorbonne University wanted to join the trading floors of large French banks and deal with securities and swaps, Yves was obsessed with Development Finance.

Thanks to his fluency in Portuguese, he was subsequently given the opportunity to be a “Coopérant “ for Caisse Centrale de Coopération Economique, now Agence Française de Développement in Mozambique. After this positive experience, he was given the opportunity to develop Proparco’s activities from scratch in Southern Africa. After 9 years with this organisation, he joined the European Investment Bank where he has been working for more than 20 years in various positions as Loan and Investment Officer across Africa, Latin America, South-East-Asia and the Caribbean.

Since October 2014, he joined the Microfinance unit team as Senior Investment Officer. In this context, he handles transactions, in particular equity investments in Microfinance Holdings and Microfinance Investment Vehicles as well as senior direct debt financing of Microfinance Institutions.

Follow his experience while attending the Boulder Microfinance Training from July 23rd to August 3rd, 2018.
