In 2019, the year of its fifth anniversary, InFiNe.lu gathered 32 members and welcomed three new ones: Backbone SA, the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP) and Finance in Motion – Luxembourg Branch. About 500 people took part in events organised by InFiNe.lu.
In 2019, InFiNe.lu made a video on what inclusive finance is, on Luxembourg’s involvement and InFiNe.lu’s activities.
Access to financial and non-financial services for refugees and resilience to climate change were the two main threads of InFiNe.lu’s theme-based presentations. InFiNe.lu members came to present their activities in these sectors, such as the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation and the European Investment Bank; and e-MFP presented the major trends in inclusive finance.
InFiNe.lu also welcomed Luxembourg players such as OKO Insurance, a specialist in index-based microinsurance and new technologies, TouchPoints Asbl, which provides a support service for migrant entrepreneurs, and international players such as the International Center for Tropical Agriculture / CGIAR, an expert in Climate Smart Agriculture Investment Plans. DAMAN for SME’s, a non-profit organisation, came to talk about the work of microfinance institutions in marginalised and poor communities in Palestine, specifically in Gaza and the West Bank.
The partnership with ADA in the Midi de la microfinance et de la finance inclusive also continued, with two conferences organised on “Hot Topics in Inclusive Finance” and “Optimising Impact: Pairing Inclusive Finance and Insurance”.
In 2019, InFiNe.lu again provided the opportunity for employees of member organisations to take part in executive trainings thanks to unique financial support in the form of an InFiNe.lu scholarship. Fabio Mandorino, ABBL, was able to participate in the Oxford Impact Investing Programme 2019 and Hélène Keraudren, Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation, attended the 2019 Harvard Business School – Accion Programme on Executive Leadership in Inclusive Finance. In 2020, Philippe Mores from the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs will follow the Oxford Impact Investing Programme 2020.
InFiNe.lu also represents the Luxembourg ecosystem in Luxembourg and internationally, and took part in no less than 24 events. InFiNe.lu is therefore up to date on inclusive finance news, posted on its website www.infine.lu and social networks.
Lastly, the co-organisation of the 10th European microfinance award “Strengthening Resilience to Climate Change” on 21 November at the EIB, dedicating the work of APA Insurance Ltd Kenya, nicely concluded 2019.
See you in 2020.
