The European Microfinance Award becomes the Luxembourg Award for Inclusive Finance

After twenty years of recognising excellence in microfinance, a new chapter begins. The European Microfinance Award is becoming the Luxembourg Award for Inclusive Finance.

This evolution reflects the profound transformation of the financial inclusion sector over the past two decades. What once centred primarily on microcredit now encompasses a much broader landscape: digital financial services, microinsurance, climate-resilient finance, SME inclusion, and responsible fintech innovation.

Since its creation in 2005, the award has established itself as a respected international benchmark, highlighting initiatives that expand access to financial services for underserved communities. Over the years, it has showcased pioneering solutions, fostered knowledge exchange and strengthened a global ecosystem committed to making finance work for everyone.

With this new name, the Luxembourg Award for Inclusive Finance reflects the diversity of initiatives shaping financial inclusion today. Alongside the rebranding, the award also unveils a refreshed visual identity designed to capture this broader vision and the evolving landscape of inclusive finance.

The award continues to celebrate innovation, excellence and measurable impact across all regions of the world.
