Priority on boosting investment in Africa and support to the GPFI work during the last G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting

G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors gathered on March 17-18, 2017 in Baden-Baden (Germany). During their meeting, they placed a particular priority on boosting investment and improving infrastructure in Africa by means of the Compact with Africa initiative.

In addition, they expressed their support to the work of the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) to advance financial inclusion. They pointed out the need of an adequate coverage of the challenges and opportunities of digital financial inclusion and encouraged G20 and non-G-20 countries to implement the G20 High-Level Principles for Digital Financial Inclusion. In that framework, the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors mentioned the importance of financial literacy and consumer protection. They recognised the progress made on the implementation of the G20 Action Plan on SME Financing and encouraged the progress in improving the environment for SME finance.
