Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation and Proparco Join Forces to Expand Rural Microfinance in Africa

The Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation and Proparco have strengthened their partnership with the signing of a €15 million financing agreement to support microfinance institutions operating in rural areas across the African continent. This strategic collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to inclusive and sustainable financial services where traditional banking remains limited.

The financing will help bridge the gap in rural credit access, fostering local economic development and reducing financial inequality. A key pillar of the initiative is the economic empowerment of women, with targeted support for entrepreneurship and financial independence in rural communities.

This partnership builds on a longstanding relationship between the Foundation and Proparco, combining financial resources with technical assistance to deepen impact over the long term. With guarantees from the ARIZ facility and integrated support mechanisms, both institutions aim to scale sustainable solutions that strengthen resilience and inclusion for underserved populations.
