Grameen Crédit Agricole has partnered with Cerise+SPTF and the Financial Inclusion Equity Council (FIEC) to launch a comprehensive survey assessing how the global reduction in international aid is impacting the financial inclusion sector.
The initiative comes in response to significant cuts in development assistance since 2024, including the reduction in USAID programs from $120 billion in January 2025 to $69 billion by May 2025. According to OECD data, this trend reflects broader international patterns as multiple countries reduce their foreign aid budgets.
While inclusive finance aims for self-sustainability, the survey recognizes that Financial Service Providers (FSPs) and their clients often depend directly or indirectly on aid-supported programs for economic stability and access to essential services in health, education, infrastructure, and energy.
The 5-10 minute survey, available in English, French, and Spanish, seeks to understand how organizations are adapting to this changing landscape. The research will help shape strategies for the future of inclusive finance amid reduced international assistance.
Financial inclusion practitioners and stakeholders are invited to share their experiences, challenges, and adaptations through this collaborative effort by three leading networks in the sector.
Survey deadline: August 18, 2025
Results publication: October 2025
