The first-ever Grameen Family Gathering was recently held in Paris, bringing together more than 60 participants from 25 organizations across 19 countries. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration across the global Grameen ecosystem, united by the shared ambition of advancing financial inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, and climate action.
Over two days of exchanges and workshops, participants explored innovative approaches to addressing poverty, unemployment, women’s empowerment, and climate challenges. In his opening remarks, Raphaël Appert, Chairman of Groupe Crédit Agricole, recalled Professor Muhammad Yunus’ core message: systems that create poverty can also be changed. A video message from Professor Yunus further reinforced the shared vision of building a world of “Three Zeros”: zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions.
The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment to deepen partnerships, share knowledge and best practices, and strengthen collective impact across countries and sectors. As highlighted by the leadership of the Grameen Group, this milestone represents not an end, but the beginning of a more connected and coordinated global movement.
