Since 2008, CGAP has conducted this annual survey and analysed the primary sources of international funding for microfinance and financial inclusion.
This 2015 report shows that after steadily increasing in previous years, international funding of financial inclusion is estimated to have plateaued at $31 billion in 2014.
It also showed an increasing interest in digital financial services and a growth in funding the Middle East and North Africa.
Going forward, funders report that they will increase their funding to sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and continue to focus on supporting Financial Service Providers (FSPs), as well as payment systems and consumer protection programs.
