The updated edition of the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management is now available

In this new updated version some of the language got to be simplified and important new elements added:

  • Environmental Performance Management. A new mandatory seventh dimension, created in coordination with the e-MFP Green Inclusive & Climate Smart Finance Action Group.
  • More detail about data collection. Expanded practical guidance on what data to collect and how to use it (e.g, monitor both positive and negative outcomes; segment data by at minimum gender, poverty/income level, location, age; collect quantitative and qualitative data; analyze transactional and socioeconomic data jointly).
  • Streamlined human-resources content. The new edition consolidates all the standards and practices about employees into a single dimension, “Responsible Human Resource Development.” It strengthens the guidance on how to use HR systems to promote employees’ professional development in support of organizational social performance.
  • Revised guidance on responsible growth. We revised the dimension on responsible growth and returns to focus more precisely on what the financial service provider actually controls, and how to mitigate risks to clients caused by high growth.
