Symbiotics annual MIV Survey, the 11th Edition, has been published. More than 95 MIVs have participated in this survey which covers 94% of the total MIV market as of December 2016. The Survey aims to provide comprehensive market trends and peer group analysis on microfinance off-shore investments. It focuses on two dimensions: (i) financial performance and (ii) social performance with an emphasis on commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance practices
According to the survey, investment volumes continued to increase in 2016, with Latin America and the Caribbean becoming the lead region capturing 34% of MIVs direct microfinance portfolio. Regarding funders, at the end of 2016, more than half of the volumes of MIVs investors base was composed of private institutional investors and public funding decrease for the period 2015-2016. Symbiotics survey underlines as well the significant increase of number of MIVs offering green loans from 2015 to 2016.
