The Ebola outbreak has severely affected several countries in West Africa, including Guinea. The activities of microfinance instutions (MFIs) in Guinea have been severely affected by the epidemic, reducing the chances of the country’s economic growth.
The main MFI in the country, the Crédit Rural de Guinée S.A. (CGR S.A.) is facing an unprecedented crisis which has had dramatic consequences for the institution, its employees, elected officials and members.
The presence of the delegation of CRG S.A. in Luxembourg will take stock of the situation and understand what are the consequences of Ebola on microfinance? How the CRG S.A. reacted to face the problem? How have the members have been affected? What are the possibilities of action and the possibilities of development of the Guinean people after the epidemic?
The General Director of Crédit Rural de Guinée S.A. Lamarana Sadio Diallo, together with the Chairman of the Board, Aboubacar-Demba Sankhon, will be presenting their study on the challenges the MFI is currently facing.
The event presents an opportunity to address the epidemic, understand the current situation and to examine the options for the recovery of the economy in the affected countries.
The 3oth Midi de la Microfinance is organised by ADA supported by the Directorate of Development Cooperation and Humanitaria Action, and in collaboration with the Bank of Luxembourg, InFiNe.lu and IRAM.
The conference will be held in French on 26 February 2015, from 12:00 to 2:00pm, at the Banque de Luxembourg (14, Boulevard Royal, Luxembourg)
