On 13 November 2014, Kompanion Financial Group won the 5th European Microfinance Award for its commitment to microfinance and environmental sustainability. Kompanion, a MFI active in Kyrgyzstan, was rewarded for its Pasture Land Management Training Initiative. The organisation provides loans linked to a training program for livestock farmers on grazing land management and preservation. The winner has received a EUR 100,000 prize from the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs – Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs for its outstanding contribution to environment protection.
